The Fernery, Mosman

The Fernery Mosman is one of the newer spaces to the local Function Venue scene and it’s absolutely stunning. Inspiration for The Fernery came from glasshouses around the world, visitors can expect a unique and chilled atmosphere – think stylish interiors, abundant greenery and a casual modern dining experience. However, the bar’s most attractive feature is undoubtedly the rooftop, offering incredible and uninterrupted views to the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

The Balmoral Room, located within The Fernery, is a light-filled function room that features distant views to North Head and an adjoining outdoor terrace with an abundance of greenery. The menus are heavily reliant on local produce – and filled with vegetables and herbs from the kitchen garden on the city side terrace. The Rose Bar offers a selection of home-grown and imported offerings, and The Gin Bar consists of over fifty types of gin, a twist on classic cocktails and a selection of craft beers. The Middle Harbour 16ft Skiff Club, Mosman

The Middle Harbour 16ft Skiff Club, including the award-winning Zest Function Centre, is an absolute waterfront venue. With uninterrupted water views from every function area, select from either our formal state-of-the-art function rooms, or the more casual Club Deck Bar with the water lapping beneath your feet. The Lower Deck Bar is a stunning outdoor area either open or with enclosed clear covers, making it an ideal casual event space catering for up to 150, it can also be scaled down to any size you like. Inclusions range from its own private BBQ and bar, to a mobile large LCD screen and bluetooth for audio or music. Adjoining is the private boardroom making it a great choice for business think-tanks and presentations seating up 12. It opens up onto the Private Deck Bar and includes a whiteboard and a mounted 55” screen. Barrel Bar and Dining, Cremorne

Located just a few doors down from Cremorne’s iconic Orpheum Theatre, Barrel Bar & Dining is establishing itself as one classy watering hole. Owners and sommeliers Tony Binning (Gordon Ramsay’s, London) and Alex Searle (Momofuku) have joined forces with head chef Jeremy Pace (Guillaume at Bennelong) to create this wonderful bar/eatery with its own on-site bottle shop, Barrel Boutique Wines. The sleek, dark decor, dramatic bar and chic city vibes set the scene for an indulgent evening. Drop in for a glass of wine or linger over a share plate in the leafy dining area – it’s perfect for every occasion. The menu features modern Australian cooking and is constantly on the move, changing regularly. With an eclectic mix of snacks, substantial share plates and a three- or five-course dining options, there’s something to suit all appetites.

When it comes to special occasions, Barrel Bar can hold up to 30 guests in the New York Style cocktail bar, 60 in the courtyard, or up to 100 guests if the venue is booked exclusively. Orso, The Spit

Orso is an absolute waterfront venue superbly positioned in Sydney’s Middle Harbour, adjacent to the Spit Bridge in Mosman. It is modern and elegantly appointed and has a spectacular marine panorama of Middle Harbour scenery, sailing boats, pleasure craft and cruisers.

Orso boasts an abundance of natural light through clear floor-to-ceiling glass expanses and can cater for functions from 50 up to 180 guests sit-down and 250 guests cocktail style. Orso has its own beach, wharf, jetty and deck, and a resident family of photogenic pelicans that can be seen paddling outside at most times. In keeping with its origins as a boatshed, guests can arrive by boat and tie up at Orso’s private jetty, or utilize ample car parking on either side of Spit Road. The Venue’s design features are muted to better reflect its special waterfront surrounds with a sea of white covered tables, black carpet and soft drapes.

At Warringah Bowls Mosman they’re gearing up for party season! Flat Rock Brew Cafe, Naremburn

Flat Rock Brew Café in Naremburn is the only brewery on the lower North Shore. As well as the many tables and booths in the main bar area, there are three levels within the venue that include two rooms available for private functions. The first is the Barrel Aging Room, which is downstairs from the main bar area. With a cellar feel, the room holds old whiskey barrels in which beer brewed onsite is currently aging. This presents a unique backdrop for a smaller private function for up to 15 guests or to experience one of Flat Rock’s informative beer tastings.

The large function room upstairs holds up to 40 people. Furniture can be configured into a format appropriate to your event, whether it is a sit-down meal, stand-up occasion where guests can mingle, or in a presentation style set-up. The team at Flat Rock have hosted many birthday parties, school parent dinners and provided a venue for local businesses to present to their clients. You can also arrange for your guests to experience a tour of the working brewery downstairs to make your event a little different.

The function room upstairs has a large-screen TV, and the room can be booked for groups when a big game is on. The Alcott, Lane Cove 

The lower North Shore’s newest and extremely stylish dining and bar venue, The Alcott, also offers beautifully designed spaces for everything from parties through to corporate events. If you’re looking for a special spot to celebrate that next milestone birthday or engagement, a cool spot to gather your colleagues, or a new and intimate experience for your wedding day, their flexible spaces are an exciting new option.

‘The Sirocco’ seats up to 70 guests, or caters for up to 120 cocktail party guests. “We can arrange everything you need to make your event one never to forget – from food and beverage to AV and entertainment. All under the roof of our beautiful, architecturally-designed event spaces,” says Events and Marketing Manager, Kylie Ritter. “From our Mediterranean-inspired menu, choose from ‘Bites ‘n Bowls’ – delicious canapes and small food bowls for cocktail parties – or shared plates designed to sit, eat and enjoy.”

There’s also ‘The Terrazza’, which is suitable for a more intimate gathering. The Terrazza seats up to 40 guests, or hosts 80 standing. When booking this space, The Alcott will again take care of everything, from delicious Mediterranean-inspired fare to awesome cocktails, AV and entertainment.

And if you need a bigger space? “Our event spaces are flexible,” says Kylie. “They can be combined so that you hire the whole floor exclusively.”
