We all love a delicious breakfast, and Mosman provides so many options, ranging from health-conscious to pure indulgence. Have you tried these eateries’ most tantalising dishes?
Wild Local Mushrooms: August The Old Place
Located in an historic 19th century building on Military Road, August The Old Place is owned and operated by former Sheraton on the Park sous chef, DS Moon. This wild local mushroom dish has seven different types of mushrooms: shiitake, oyster, enoki, button, Swiss brown, shimeji and Portobello! It also includes grilled baby corn, Brussels sprout, goat cheese and two 65-degree poached eggs on grilled sourdough. We’re getting hungry just thinking about it!
Galette With Avocado, Spinach, Feta And Mushroom: Four Frogs Crêperies
This healthy galette is both gluten-free and vegetarian, which might be the reason why it’s the best seller across all the crêperies. Four Frogs mill their own buckwheat flour in-house in order to preserve its nutrients and offer a unique taste.
Hand Made Crumpet with Ricotta, Fresh Fruit, Honey and Macadamia Nuts, East Coast Lounge
This handmade crumpet (a great alternative to pancakes) comes with fresh ricotta, seasonal fruit, crushed macadamia nuts and to top it off, Sydney Gold Honey made right here in Mosman. Plus, what could be more divine than enjoying your breakfast amongst the beautiful surrounds of Chowder Bay… not to mention the beautiful food and homewares available in East Coast Lounge!
Corn Fritters with Free Range Bacon & Avocado, Stranded Gourmet Mosman
These corn fritters, made with whole corn kernels blended with chives, served with a curl of free range bacon, diced avocado and house-made tomato relish are light and delicious. A big favourite with those who enjoy sitting away from the busy main street in Stranded’s garden courtyard.
Whale Beach Muesli, The Boathouse Balmoral Beach
The Whale Beach Muesli is a Boathouse breakfast favourite. The muesli is made in-house at Whale Beach (where another of the fabulous Boathouse outposts can be found), and is served with fresh fruit and yoghurt.
Crabs in Black: The Mews Mosman
An original creation made by head chef, Ryan, who is always working with unique flavours to create beautiful dishes. Crabs in Black combines soft shell crab, salmon caviar, charred sweet corn, finger lime, celery, fried egg and black aioli on a charcoal brioche. Yum!
Vegan Breakfast Salad: Avenue Road Café
Those looking for a healthy start to the day will want to order the Vegan Salad – a pretty-as-a-picture union of local produce that looks as good as it tastes. The perfect chickpea fritter is paired with asparagus, quinoa, avocado and pumpkin, finished with beetroot hummus, almonds and tahini.
