Local Playgroups

Please make contact with a playgroup prior to turning up – some have waitlists or require you to bring something along on the day. There are several ‘drop-in’ playgroups locally which you do not need to make contact with prior and these are listed below. Most playgroups run only during term time. Please check with your individual playgroup if they continue during holidays.

Drop-in Playgroups – no booking required, just turn up on the day:

Explorer’s Playgroup
Where: Inside Civic Park, 220 Miller St, North Sydney
(behind Stanton Library, between McLaren & Ridge Streets)
When: Monday – Thursday
Time: 10am-12.30pm.

Description: “Provides creative play sessions for under 5s, spread across three light-filled rooms and a beautiful playground. Experienced play leaders set up a wide range of activities to suit the needs of children, with an emphasis on child-initiated play supervised by a parent or carer in a relaxed and friendly environment.”

Kirribilli Playgroup
Where: Kirribilli Neighbourhood Centre16 -18 Fitzroy St Kirribilli
When: Monday-Friday
Time: 9am-5pm.
Description: “Children under the supervision of parents are welcome. We have a beautiful courtyard, as well as a toy shed and a turfed / covered fenced-in area for your children to utilize. This is a beautiful environment for children to safely play and socialize, while parents get to know one another. We ask that you make a donation of a gold coin to use this space.”

St Leonards Tafe Play Sessions
Where: 213 Pacific Hwy, St Leonards
When: (days vary, see ML’s What’s On Calendar for further details)
Time: 10am-12pm
Description: Age: under 5 years. “Play session for children and parents. Primary focus on enabling students to practice skills with children and their families, while offering an interesting program for children. Students are involved in the planning and organisation of each session, supervised by teachers who are early childhood professionals. New outdoor area developed in consultation with early childhood landscape designers.”

Description: Mosman Council’s Connections Playgroup encourages social connections amongst parents and carers of children aged 0-5 years in the community. We particularly encourage new residents and parents to attend.

Cammeray Playgroup

Cameragal Montessori Under 3s Program
Where: Mosman Baptist Church, 18 Melrose Street, Mosman
When: One morning per week (Mon-Thurs)

Description:  Specifically for children under 36 months. It is a neat, orderly and intimate space that focuses on the development of movement and the refinement of language. It lays the foundation for life, as the first three years of life are the most fundamental for children and their potential. A parent/carer must attend with the child. It is recommended for the parents to observe, so the child can independently work through the activities.

Little Footsteps, Balgowlah

Description: Children in the 0-4 age group welcome with their own parent or individual carer. Toddlers, mums and dads enjoy playing, singing, craft and morning tea together. Build early childhood friendships and vital support networks (for the parents, of course!)Morning tea (fruit, crackers, cheese and a few sweet treats) is included in the price ($5/week or $30 per family per term) and lovingly prepared by volunteers from the Balgowlah congregation.
