Kate’s Art Corner was founded in 2009 by Kate Nielsen, and has been successfully bringing children of all ages together to make art ever since. Located in Mosman, Sydney, she designs her classes around the local environment and all the inspirational ideas and concepts that it has to offer. Kate has a Diploma and Bachelor of Fine Arts, over ten years experience in Early childhood education and is a current practicing artist. Kate has twice been a finalist in a major art prize and is currently working towards a solo exhibition. She believes that creativity, in all its forms is fundamental to childrens education and it is important to support and nurture this as a basis for all learning. Thinking creatively is important in young children, not just for art making but for the ability to make important connections and understandings. Kate is supportive of all children who come to her classes and has a ‘process, not product’ policy, focusing on the process, not the end result.
